The Metropolitan Opera Live in High-Definition starting October

The Met’s 125th anniversary season opens with a celebratory gala starring the extraordinary soprano Renée Fleming singing three of her most acclaimed roles. Met Music Director James Levine, Marco Armiliato, and Patrick Summers conduct fully staged scenes from Verdi’s La Traviata, Massenet’s Manon, and Richard Strauss’s Capriccio. World renowned designers Christian Lacroix, John Galliano, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel have created new costumes for Fleming’s star turn. Tenor Ramón Vargas and baritones Thomas Hampson and Dwayne Croft join the soprano for this exciting season opener. Susan Graham will host the HD transmission.

Beekeeper Hive Tour

Lifecycle’s Fruit Tree Picking

Location: TBA. Contact: fruittree (at) lifecyclesproject.ca to sign up for this event!

Pick backyard fruit with a team leader or become one yourself. Harvest fruit from private trees that would otherwise go to waste. All pickings are listed online (www.lifecyclesproject.ca) where locavores can sign up as a volunteer and get a password in order to access the pick database.
Volunteers are then entitled to keep 25% of the fruit and leave 25% with the homeowner; the rest is then distributed to Food Banks and Community Centers.
